SJB white caps 3/26, 3/27

Post by sanblaslayer »

We went down on Friday PM to hopefully get the skunk off a friends "new" boat, despite the windy forecast. At the 1st stop we managed to each sightcast a red, a 28" and 24". We saw quite a few fish in the 2 hrs we were out there, but after light was lost, we put the boat back on the trailer, successful in our mission.

Saturday, my sister and brother in law joined us, this time on the flats barge, for some requested meat fishing. Our spot from the previous day was blown out, so we sought out refuge in the extreme south end of the bay. Found the reds, some willing to eat, most not. We didn't get any keepers for the meat fishing excursion . Landed 3 between 30" and 33", my brother in law catching his largest red to date at 33". Then followed it up with his 2nd largest at 32". We did manage to get 5 keeper trout between 16" and 21" for the table, and lost several other keepers through angler error. The reds were on the shallower crowns of the flats and the trout were in isolated areas along edges and drop offs. Awesome day on the water despite the winds and white caps. Looks like things are starting to pick up at SJB.
