NFGFC April Tournament Results: pres. by Keaton Beach Marina
Another tournament and another record turnout for NFGFC. The April tournament, presented by the Keaton Beach Marina, was held April 3rd out of Keaton Beach and 34 boats showed up at the Keaton Beach boat ramp ready to fish. The weather was beautiful and the fishing was awesome. We knew the April tournament was going to be a slugfest, but I’m not sure anybody could’ve predicted this…HUGE trout were weighed in at this tournament as two 6 pounders, a 5 pounder, and three 4 pounders were brought to the scales. There were 120 trout weighed, 18 limits, and 237.47 lbs of trout were weighed.
The team of Chuck Collins, Jeff Trent, and Austin Trent put a whoopin’ on the trout as they weighed a 5 fish stinger at 13.47 lbs and earned the victory. The Bass Boys won $350 for their win and also took home $25 for their 2nd place big trout (courtesy of Custom Detailing) with their 6.05 lb shoemama. Congrats to Chuck, Jeff and Austin!
2nd place was awarded to the team of Ashley "Warrior" Mock and Matt Howell. This talented duo weighed in five trout tipping the scales to 13.08 lbs which won them $205. They also won big trout with Ashley’s massive 6.25 lb beast worth an additional $245.
3rd place went to the team of Steve and Andrew Stinson. This father-son duo weighed in five trout at 12.64 lbs. Andrew Stinson, one of the most talented 1st graders in the area, caught an impressive 3.73 lb trout. Team Stinson won $155 for their efforts.
The big redfish was caught by the team of Chad Frost and Michael Aman. Chad’s red was a shade over 26" and weighed 6.41 lbs. Congrats to Chad and Michael for winning the redfish side pot and $250.
The Kevin's big flounder pot was won by Ashley Mock as his 1.75 lb doormat won him $100 to Kevin’s Sporting Goods. Ashley is now the leader in the clubhouse for the Kevin’s Sporting Goods Big Flounder of the Year award.
The Badcock and More Mystery fish was won by Steve and Andrew Stinson and was worth $200. Team Stinson won the side pot with their nice 3.53 lb bluefish. Congrats to Team Stinson and a big thank you to Jay Evans and Badcock and More.
I hope everyone takes the time to thank the presenting sponsor, the Keaton Beach Marina for supporting the club. Also, the club wouldn’t be near as successful without the support of our sponsors; please take the time to thank all of our sponsors and give them your business.
The second club tournament of the year was an awesome event. We’re 2 for 2 in record turnouts so far this year and I hope to see all of you at our next tournament, May 8th out of Jerry’s Bait and Tackle.

Casey -
Thanks for posting this so quickly. I was at the cleaning table Saturday evening when Capt. Pat McGriff returned from his charter. He asked for a full report, so I am going to send him a copy. Andrew and I had an eventfull day. I will post the report as soon as a get a chance to type it up.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to come down to Keaton and fish. Also, to those who worked to make the Friday night fish fry a huge success. My family and I enjoyed the great food and made several new friends.

I think I know the hole of which you speak. It sounds as though Captain Pat Mcgriff directed the rest of the fleet towards my other favorite hole.SHOWBOAT wrote:K8Show will be posting pics. Were they good trout? My brother fished that area on Saturday and got skunked. I never got a chance to go.
