Took my 9 year old out with me today. Didn't get on the water until around 10:00. Stopped just shy of the bird rack and caught a lot of pinfish--enough to fish with and a few to freeze for next time.
Then we went out to about 30 feet and started dropping both live and cut bait. NOAA said two foot seas. Evidently they forgot to tell me that the two footers were stacked one on top of the other. The boy couldn't handle it and got a little green, so we started in around 3:00.
Wound up with 3 reds. Threw back several reds and a couple of gags that were less than an inch short.
How far out did you have to go to get into 30 ft.??? What size were your reds?
I was unable to take my 9 year old out for grouper yesterday, so we settled for a few trout out of St. Marks. Glad to hear you at least caught a few given the conditions.
I'm not sure how far out. I would guess 8 or 10 miles.?? I've got a new GPS and I figured out that I'm going to need to read the book on this one. I just followed the numbers out to one of the closest holes I knew. Didn't want to go any further as rough as it was.
