Grouper help

Post by reelcatch »

Being a mostly flats person I am starting to venture out for some grouper and could use some help. I have made several trips out of St Marks with little success. I have caught live pin fish, used cut bait and trolled some but no real luck yet. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Unless someone is going to give up some of their Grouper numbers, your on your own.
Your best best is to carry dead bait and live bait too. Northern Mackerel is my favorite dead bait. and Blue runners and pin fish for live.
A great bottom machine is a must in finding new spots while out on the pond.
Just keep at it and you will find some on your own.
For what it's worth, keeper grouper are hard to come by right now in our area. Unless you go out to 100+ depth.
Good luck.
