Fathers Day Cobia
Best Father's Day I ever had. Son Brett and I went out of St. Marks but headed east toward Aucilla/Enconfina. Fishing was slow. Wind was nonexistent, and man was it hot. Caught a couple of trout under the weed mats. Bout to give up when Brett said he saw a cobia boil up about 75 feet away. He coaxed me into putting the one pin fish we has been saving on our biggest rod under cork . I put the hook in the pinner and dropped it overboard just to keep it alive while I adjusted the cork, and WHAM! Cobia already?! Good thing I had the bait runner clicked in, or she probably would have jerked the rod out of my hand. Got my fish face on, set the switch to fight, and three screaming runs later she was tuckered out and boat-side. Brett lipped her, puller her in the boat, measured her to be 38" to the fork, and handed her over for a pic . . .

Me thinks Pangas are cobe magnets.
Joking aside, that's an awesome cobe, Harmsway -- can't imagine a better way to celebrate Father's Day.

Ha Ha! Too bad you had to work so hard for that one!
Poor last pin fish.. he had been waiting on feeding the trout - guess he was surprised too.
Way to top it off on Father's Day.

Nice work Will!
BBG had inspired me, so we caught some bait and searched for cobia on Saturday. We managed a couple grouper in 25', no cobia to be seen.

Nice one Will

Re: Fathers Day Cobia
Man, that's one nice cobe!! My biggest and only keeper cobe was caught under the boat on a live pigfish, sounds a lot like the one that hit yours only not as big. I think they like to get under boats for the shade.

Yeah, DixieReb, she prolly was under the boat, cuz I never saw her coming.

Will, nice fish! I am glad you and Bret got to experience that together. There is nothing like fighting a big fish together. You will have that memory together for the rest of your lives. I am sure your Fathers Day dinner was pretty good as well. Next time, give the pole to Bret! Tell Jennifer hello for me. AAA Guy
