Hello all. Saturday I had to report to UWF for preseason but I fished in the morning before departing. I fished with my dad and my brother-in-law Jake. We caught bait in the canal pretty easily despite the awful conditions. It was almost capping in the canal and it was really blowing good, not the best conditions for our 15 foot boat with 3 men in it. We made the long run to our spot, running straight into the wind and getting soaked. Throughout the day we hooked up with several big things, not sure what they were but they eventually broke us off, probably big stingrays. The trout were in the spot pretty thick and loving our menhaden. We had to move around a lot to find fish. We slowly caught 7 keeper trout and brought home 6 of them. Our 2 biggest fish were 20 and 21 inches, not bad fish. We ended up racing a storm back to the ramp and we did not win the race. Luckily, it was all at our back or else we would have been in trouble. The stinging rain, high winds, and high seas made for an interesting trip back to the ramp. It was my last fishing trip of the summer and it was a good time, I caught 6 keeper trout so I was happy. I will be in Pensacola in the middle of our season for the next couple months so you probably won't see many posts from me. Look out for my Dad though as he now has been taught how to throw a cast net and knows all the spots I fished this summer. Hopefully he will be posting plenty of reports. It has been a good summer, tight lines!
Thanks very much, I haven't found many fishing holes over here, any help would be appreciated. I found one spot off of Scenic Highway that looked good but I never found fish there. I would love any help finding spots over here, but I won't have a boat over here.
