Kayak Plans

Post by Ken K »

I doubt I am the first to think of this, but I was wondering how it would work to build a sit on top kayak using the same methods as building a surfboard. Foam core and wood stringers covered in fiberglass.

You could cut three longitudinal stringers to the contours of the finished boat and set them in a rough mold. Pour the foam around the stringers and when it cured you could fair the foam down to the stringers. The stringers could be doubled up in the cockpit.

If it was a good way to do it somebody would probably already making them like that.

Not sure about the way you want to build, but you can try this site.
