Advice for Panacea area?

Post by BBC10 »

Hello everybody, first time poster, long time reader. I thought I might as well finally register and maybe give some helpful advice when the time presents itself. Usually this time of year I would prefer to do my fishing around the St. Marks and the Wakulla areas back in the creeks. Did good last weekend on the reds, catching 60 between me and a buddy on his canoe. Although 90% were 13-16", there were only four in slot but thats double what they allow anyways, it was fun and all that matters. My question is does anyone know of a decent spot around Panacea (have to be there to pick up a boat) to fish in during this time of year? I'm not sure if there are any spring-fed creeks or estuaries in there, besides the normal tidal creeks. Or any ideas about the Bay? I'm either gonna have a kayak with me or just wade out, since the weather doesn't look so pretty. Any help would be much appreciated

I know where Spring Creek is and where the launch is, haven't heard Boil Spring before. Where is the Spring at out of couriosity? I've always heard good things about spring creek but have yet to make it over there, is there any extra dangers in there besides the bars, like rocks or anything else? One more thing if anyone could help. Would it be worth a shot at Bald Point this time of year? Think its a negative tide in the morning and would be able to wade out with the right gear, but don't want to waste my time

There are several springs very close to the ramp- ask the guys there and they will tell you/show you the close ones.
There are lots of oyster bars but thats what makes it good.

Same story at Bald Point- Oyster bars and cuts in the bars = fish.
Ive seen a lot of big reds caught off that beach!

thanks for the advice. I wasn't able to get out this weekend but got off half of tomorrow and figured I'd give it a shot.
