OK I must be a little confused here. I went to the NFG website to check on upcoming tournaments. I would like to be more active this year so I am getting my weekends setup. I also would like to attend the flats fishing seminar on the 12th.
Here is where I have an issue. The website lists the meeting on the 3rd of Feb and the tournament on the 12th. That also is the day of the seminar!! Now is it me or does that seems kind of dumb. First we are having the meeting a week before the tournament and then we schedule a seminar on the same day!!!! I thought I saw it wrong so I checked the next couple of months and sure enough a weeks time between the meeting until the tournaments. Until April when it goes back to having the meeting the Thursday before the tournament.
I am guessing there is an oversight here somewhere or I will have to choose between supporting the seminar or the tournament.

Re: Confused
The reason the tournaments for February and March are the second weekend is because Negative tides fell on the 1st weekend.Sorry for the confusion but we have fought negative tides in the past and nearly everyone complained.

Re: Confused
RC- you have multiple entities scheduling events. Capt Dave is a great sponsor of NFGFC and we encourage everyone not participating in the tourney to attend his seminar. However, that seminar is not a club function. Warrior's note explains the tournament scheduling; looking out for the best interest and lower units of tourney participants. I'm sure you'll enjoy your decision either way.
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

Re: Confused
Reelcatch,
We picked that date for the seminar for several reasons. We wanted to have it before the start of trout season and spring fishing began in earnest. We also needed to avoid the Tallahassee Boat Show and thought it wouldn't conflict with the club tournament based on last year's schedule. So best of luck if you fish the tourney, or if you decide to come to the seminar we'll be covering information that will be good for all year. We're rapidly approaching the sellout point on the seminar, however, so if you do want to attend, sign up soon.
And to all the club tournament contestants this year: Tight lines and fair seas!
