Well, I went chasin Wevans' fish today. Put in at the State Park about 0830. Wemt to a creek on the lower Sopchoppy that I caught fish out of years ago. The bite was slow on an almost dead low tide. But I managed to find 10 fish in the deep holes. When the tide turned and started in I went up to Buckhorn. After a little experimentation, I found them in the mouth of a small creek. The wind was blowing pretty hard, so I anchored. I caught 22 bass in the mouth of this small creek, 18 on a Carolina rig, and the remaining 4 on a crankbait. When the bite quit there I went to the upper end of Bear Creek, where Wevans and I fished a couple of weeks ago. I managed 9 more on a Texas rig. On the way in I stopped on a trash pile I found years ago. I was surprised to find it still there. I managed to catch 1 fish off of the trash pile on a Carolina rig.
Final tally - 42 of Wevans' bass have been caught and released today. Wevans, I tried your secret bait. Not one bite! Guess I better stick to what I know how to do.
Sounds like a pretty good trip TC I went in the lower Sopchoppy on Saturday and fished the banks of the river "for a change" and got around 30 Bass and stopped at the cutoff for the heck of it and caught 2 Stripers around 3# and lost one at the boat I tried the upper end on Sunday "useing the same secret bait" and could only get one strike "I think they prefer yer secret bait up on that end" I haven't been back to Buckhorn since I last went with you
