Stolen Tackle Alert

Post by silverking »

A good friend and fellow guide had a bunch of tackle stolen from his storage unit (Ft. Knox on Capital Circle SE, near Mahan). Two others were hit also. The SOB thieves took a complete set of Sage fly rods (8-weight to 12), some TFO and other fly rods, Shimano spinning reels and Teramar rods, Shimano Baitrunner reels and rods, misc. tackle, his GPS unit, tools and automotive supplies. A police/insurance report has been filed. Apparently this is a regular occurrence and the new owners of the storage company disconnected the video cameras, so there are no real leads. The police are monitoring eBay, craig's list, etc., but if anyone hears about some deals too good to be true, please PM me.

Thanks for posting this up. I'm a regular checker of craigslist and eBay in the surrounding FL, AL, GA areas.

Does he have any pics we can get posted up on here for easier identification of his gear?

Sorry to hear about this. I'm always checking Craigslist (the statewide version) and will keep an eye out for his stuff.
If there is more specific information that he wants to pass on about his equipment that can help us look also.

I hate to hear this sort of report. It's been 3 or 4 years but I had aprox $1000 in tackle/batteries/etc. taken from my boat which was covered and in my back yard. A couple of the items weren't just "tackle" because they had been gifts. I sure hope someone gets caught from this.

It probably doesn't seem worth it but with the amount of tackle taken the $'s involved would be up there pretty good. I don't know if the lease agreement specifies that there will be 24/7 video monitering, but having disconnected the system sure doesn't seem prudent on the part of the storage provider. Probably no recourse. Will keep my attention towards the items you mentioned. Best of luck
