Had the pleasure of taking Celeste on a little birthday cruise Saturday, our daughter Emily joined for our late start VERY near shore excursion. Started off with a quick rescue mission just out of the Lanark Channel, we towed a small boat that had quit just East of the Lanark channel back to the dock then we headed out around Dog Island and managed to troll up a just short 21 in Gag in a @ 25 ft of water then headed to the really deep stuff (33) and caught a few sea bass and grunts up and down, and realized quickly Emily should have taken some sea sickness medicine becasue she would'nt fish at all and hung out under the hard top or in the bean bag the whole time. So I decided to troll a little more and hope that air movement and less rocking would help her, turned around and trolled right back through our up and down spot and Celeste landed a birthday 28 in Gag on a Stretch 30 Chartreuse/purple.
that pretty much did it ,and we decided to head back in for Emily's sake. Here is the Birday Girl and her present.
Nothing worse than seeing someone get sick out there. Nowhere to hide! Congrats to the birthday girl and her grouper.
We are coming down tomorrow through Saturday to fish from middle Georgia. 3 boats and 12 guys. We have mainly done the inshore thing, but have fished Dog Island Reef many times, but not deeper for grouper. We are wanting to broaden our horizons and try it some. Any advice? Saw you were in 25-33 feet using Stretch's. We'll be going out of Lanark Wednesday and the wind looks like it'll be howling pretty good, but by Friday it acts like it might be OK for an offshore jaunt. Thanks.
