“I heard this big boy gobble and nearly didn't try to call it because it
was so far away. After it gobbled the 2nd or 3rd time I decided to give
it a try. A few minutes later it was only half as far away. About that
time another gobbler gobbled up closer but I never heard that (2nd) one
again. I made a really light single cluck, shouldered the shotgun and
sat back. 15 minutes later this one came in silently in full strut. I
shot him at 14 yards while he was checking out my hen decoy.
Surprisingly enough he never approached the jake decoy. Usually they
kick the jake's butt before addressing the hen but this one was
obviously boss of the hillside and apparently didn't think the jake was worth
his bother. I suspect that's why I never heard the closer gobbler a 2nd
time. More than likely he saw this one and decided to find easier
pickings. The other gobbler will probably be boss of the hill tomorrow.”
WTH am I always at work when these things are going down in the woods…

Congrats on an awesome bird bud.
