Anyone have suggestions?

Also, what do you typically buy lb/person?

Thanks!

FYI, in my searches, I came across a couple sites. This one seems to be pretty good, so long as their crawfish are as big as they claim

lonesome: Don't know where you live but my son has a place in Tallahassee to order his for him. Ask around if you know someone from Tallahassee.

How many?

My son orders a bushel just for him and his wife.

Me, wouldn't take very many. Also need to know if they will suck the heads or just eat the tails. Head sucker possibly doesn't need as many as tail eaters.

I'll call him tonight.

Best I remember it was a small restaurant on Apalachee Parkway East, north side of the road in a small shopping center. So small I had trouble finding a parking place. Seems some government agency had a space near the restaurant. Lots of folks ate there. It must have been good food. They used bushels every week.

The folks were very nice, put ice around, not on them, to cool them off. They were alive and made a scratching sound crawling around on top of each other. By the time I got back to Madison you couldn't have paid me enough to eat one. Sounded like a mess of roaches crawling around in the corn crib at night.

My sons wife love them. As far as I know they ate the whole bushel.

I also saw some at Strickland's Bait Shop going towards Lake Talquin. You might call him. Don't know if his was eating crawfish or fishing crawfish or if there is a difference.

Coosh's Bayou Rouge sells them cooked up. They may tell you who their supplier is if you need to order them in bulk.

This is an older topic, but in case people are still looking, I moved to Tally after spending five years in New Orleans and developed a pretty bad crawfish habit. I've been looking around to find somewhere to get good hot boiled crawfish ever since. Koosh's is pretty good, they only do them hot boiled once a week, I think it is on Saturdays. But price is close to $10 per lb. I have ordered up to 60 lbs live from Southern Seafood for boils I have hosted, they come out to being about $3.00 per lb live and I was really pleased with what Southern delivered, over 90% of the crawfish were live and good sized. Recently, I have gotten them pre-cooked at chilled at Millanders in Carrabelle, they have a really good flavor, and are priced about $5.00 per lb. The secret there is to buy them cold, stop at the IGA, get a bag of the Zatarans crab and crawfish boil, boil up a pot of water with the bag in it, shut it off, let it cool slightly and then dump the pre-cooked and chilled crawfish into the hot water. Then take them out after about a minute and they were really good.

Finally, I'll save the best for last, I have been getting some at Mineral Springs in Panacea, they get fresh live crawfish in every Friday and if you call them, they will tell you when they are boiling them. If you show up during their boil, you can get them warm and out of the pot. They were great last week. If you get there later and they are already chilling them, the re-heating method above works well for them also. Also, if you order more than 5lbs, I think the price at Mineral Springs goes down a dollar a pound.

Hope folks find them and enjoy, I'd love to get more demand around the area.
