June 4-Big Fish

Post by LucWilliams »

Fished with my Dad again today. We hit the water around one, caught some mud minnows and headed east of the lighthouse. We anchored up on our spot and my first cast brought a beautiful 24 inch trout to the boat. This is my new personal best. This spot died after I caught that fish so we moved around to a few other spots. Probably only fished about four spots throughout the whole day. Along the way my Dad caught a 24.5 inch trout that was a beast. He also caught a nice 25 inch red. I caught two 23 inch reds, and a 24 inch red. We brought home the 25 inch red and one of the 23 inch reds. The big trout and two of the reds were successfully released. We also picked up two rat reds along the way. It was an incredible day. All fish were caught on shrimp or mud minnows under a bobber or on a jighead. On the way into the canal at the lighthouse we had a mullet jump into the boat as we went through a school, never had that happen before. Must've just been one of those days for us. Tight lines!
