Carrabelle NFGFC 6-3 and 6-4

Post by Jumptrout51 »

Got a call from Grizzly on Wednesday saying he could not make the Carrabelle tournament.
I called Tincan to see if he was available.
Feeling sorry for me he said he would make the sacrifice.
We meet up at the Lanark ramp at 6:30 a.m. Friday.
A short run out and down puts us on a Tincan hole.
Twenty minutes later we have 4 nice reds in the boat.
We run a few miles down to another spot, get in close and see lots of bait movement and mullet jumping.
We put another nice red in the boat and then our first trout.
At nineteen and a half inches and fat,we are pleased this place is holding fish.
We move down about a mile and start working some spotty bottom with topwater baits.
Another couple 18/19 in the boat.
Tide is dropping so we move out.
More spotty bottom and a good dropoff produces more 19+ inch trout.
We work this area a couple times and get good fish each time.
We leave it for another spot.
The remaining 5 or 6 places we fished held smaller fish.
On Saturday we make a long run to spot number one.
What a difference a day makes.
No bait,no mullet,no nothing.
We give it a fair chance until moving to our best hole from Friday.
We fished it for hours only to boat under 15 inch fish and over 20 inch fish.
We finally managed a 16 and a 17 off there for the scales.
Thinking how the size changed so much in a few hours from Friday to Saturday we go to a spot that had smaller fish on Friday, thinking, hoping larger fish had moved in.
Seems all fish had moved off.
With little time left before weigh in we went to a spot we have fished in the past but not on Friday.
Four or 5 drifts through the area finished out our limit with a couple 17 and a 19.
We move a few hundred yards and try one last place with 10 minutes to go before having to leave.
5 minutes into the drift we hook up with a 7 pound red.
P.S. The margaritas at The St. James Grill are really good.
Tincan is a good net man.
We won some money.
WHOSE FISH IS IT?
