Fishing/Scalloping@St. Marks 7/16/11

Post by Hit-n-Miss »

After watching the weather for days trying to decide if it would be alright to go or not. We decided that if the seas were fine we would go.(gonna get wet anyway)So Daniel, Lee and I decided to head out at 5:00am. Ran into little rain on the way so we figured it was going to be OK. Got to the fort ramp and it looked good so we headed out the river. Got to the mouth of the river and met a wall of rain. We had called it and not gone last week so we pressed on. Got out to the stakeline and started fishing. About thirty minutes later it stopped raining. I tried to raise Groupersandwich on the radio with no luck. We fished for a while catching many shorts and only one keeper trout. Saw what I thought were scallops from the boat and jumped in to look. Turned out to be some weird white growths on the bottom. Since the visability was good we moved to a scallop spot and got in. The scallops were late to show but we got our limit, cleaned them then went back to fishing. No more keepers but if anyone finds a green cork with a nice fish attached I want it back. You can keep the cork.
