The Smoke and Fire BBQ contest will be held this Saturday at Hudson Park in Crawfordville. Teams from local FD's and Law Enforcement Agencies will compete against each other to take home the top honors. All proceeds go to the following two charities: the Richard Rhea Scholarship Fund and the Camp Amigos Burn Camp. The Richard Rhea Scholarship honors Mr. Rhea who was a volunteer firefighter who died in the line of duty. The Scholarship is provided annually to an individual wanting to attend Public Service training (firefighting, EMS, etc.). Camp Amigos is a camp where children who have sustained burns can go, have fun, be a kid, all the while being around other kids in the same situation. They both are great causes.
They will be selling BBQ from 11am - 4pm. Prices are $6 for one meat, $7 for 2 meats, and $8 for 3 meats. Ribs, chicken, and pork will be on the menu. All plates come with slaw, beans, and bread.
Right now the weather isn't looking too good for fishing Saturday, and the Noles aren't playing, so it may just be a great day to take a ride and enjoy some good BBQ.
If you are on the way to/from the coast this Saturday, pull on in and grab a plate.
Thanks,
Scoop.
