Fished the morning of 10/1 with my Dad and a friend of his to see if we could find any reds in the river. We put in at Roho Road and fished up river from there all the way to the state park. In spite of the wind and in between sail and hardhead kitty's, we managed to catch one short trout near Turtle Island and 10 or so short redfish on live shrimp fished on the bottom in the swift falling tide current. We fished 12' and deeper all day.
The largest redfish (only one over slot - we caught no slot fish

) was a nice 38 incher caught by my Dad within sight of the shore of Ochlockonee River State Park. The fish was big, but ugly as homemade sin and old. This fish bit a shrimp about the size of a cigarette as we had burned through the larger shrimp on the rat reds and kitties.
