Bull Reds yet?

Post by somfas »

Hey guys, just checking to see if now is a good time to go fish the cut at SGI for some bull reds. I was planning to go this weekend. I have a buddy coming down that wants to get into them and I have not been having much luck this whole year with fishing,..... sure would like to get on them this weekend. I have a boat, or we can shore fish, either way. If the bulls aren't a sure thing at the cut just yet, is there anywhere you can recommend to up our chances of getting in to some keeper reds? I usually fish the creeks, bars and flats around the lighthouse. However, would like to venture out anywhere between there and SGI. Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forum, somfas.
I haven't heard any reports on the reds at the cut, but with the cooling trend we have going, might be worth checking out, if the wind being forecast for this weekend doesn't materialize. Looks like more a weekend to stay home and watch football or work on ya fishing tackle. Good luck whatever you decide, and be careful if you decide to get out there in it. :)

While chasing mullet on the beach side of Dog Island on Friday we saw about 6 bull reds is the shallows. So I would say that a fresh mullet head on a knocker rig in the cut will get ya one.
Have at it Bro. Post photos.

Thanks guys. Yeh, I'll keep an eye on the weather for sure. And if I get into them, will definitely post up some pics.
