St. Marks 10-15-11...Reds and Trout

Post by Jhults11 »

We fished in the take a kid fishing event this morning and were were met with great fall conditions. After picking up our kids at the fort we pushed away heading towards the east flats. Upon araival we caught fish nearly every cast on the first drift. The kids were having a blast pulling in the fish claiming "they were the biggest fish they have ever seen." They caught all kinds of fish including keeper trout, small trout, black sea bass, spanish makeral, ladyfish, pinfish, and a 2 ft. Atlantic Shaprnose. After a couple hours the bite died with the tides but we all had what we came for...memories that will last a lifetime. As we arived back at the fort and the kids were toting there catches around and swaping fish stories, David (Satly Gator), Conrad, and I got busy cleaning trout on his fillet board on the side of his pathfinder. Thanks again David for the cleaning table. After a few hot dogs and a round of fish story swaping at fort, my wife and her parents who are in town from Canada drove down from Tally and met me a the ramp. They wanted to go and do a lil afternoon redfishing. We got some shrimp at shell island and back down river we went. I hit a few of my go to oyster bars and we did manage a nice 23" Red on a gulp shrimp but they just didnt seem to be there in big #s. We were catching some fish but had not found the mother load we came for so with a good hour left to fish with the sun falling slowly I decided there was enough water in a go to honey hole iv had for years and low and behold they were there. We sat on that spot and caught 4 22-25" Reds :smt007 and broke off another 2 good fish that wrapped our lines in oyster bars. We all had a blast! It definitley is the time of year to get out and get after it...the fish are hungry!
Total:
2 Keeper Trout in the am with the kids
5 Keeper Reds in the pm with the Fam
Life is Good

Thanks for the good report.

We were there also but didn't catch any fish. Children had a good time riding in the boat and seeing all the marine animals. Wished we could have found fish for them to catch.

Thanks for allowing me to serve as your deckhand with the kids. They certainly had a great time.
I am glad you were able to find dinner for the wife and her parents.
