10/27/11 Lanark Report

Post by neckmoe »

Fished out of Lanark yesterday south of Dog Island. Had a little bit of a rough go getting out in the low tide but made it out nonetheless. Started out trolling for grouper on some close in numbers but only thing landed was a 29'' spanish. Decided to head out to some deeper water and the only thing we could get trolling were kings. Limited out on those and decided to bottom fish a bit. Caught a flounder and a handfull of black seabass. Seas were awesome, nice and smooth. Sure made for a great day on the water. Beat being at work. Now just gotta work off some of the soreness. Could use some advice though. For years when trolling plugs like Strech 25'' and 30's I've alway rigged with wire. Just lost to many plugs otherwise but yesterday we rigged with 100lb florocarbon and didn't loose a single fish. Went 4 for 5 trolling over some structure and just had a blast. Was just wondering if anyone has any preference or tips they'd like to share when rigging for trolling.
I don't know when I'm gonna catch my next fish but I know when I do it's gonna be awesome!

Lots of discussion some time ago to that last question...
