this doesn't equate to affording, I like building my boat and think it's kewl, but I am still thinking about buying something.

Remember Break Out Another Thousand = BOAT

An example: I am working with a designer on a hybrid gheenoe. Got to pricing out plywood, epoxy, fiberglass, paint, etc. I could buy a used Gheenoe with motor, trolling motor, gas tank, etc. for less than I could buy a motor to put on the plywood gheenoe :o

I do believe you can save some money buying a used boat and giving it some TLC..Like this....

To this :o Yes, it is the same boat and I could have had one for $500 from FishMasterson :hammer: :hammer:

Older seacrafts are good project boats but hard to find. I have thought about getting an older mako and fixing it up for offshore. Have to repower with a new engine. That is the major expense.
