Braid to leader knot (new)

Post by Chalk »

I was thinking about trying some of the new braid line the other day. I have fished with a few and noticed most use a fluorocarbon leader. I suppose because most braids are not translucent.

Anyway, I was looking at the new Stren Super Braid. Whilst looking over at their site I found a new knot for tying a leader to braid in their knot-tying library.

Check it http://www.stren.com/knot11.htm

Yes, I'm bored, please post some to make my day more interesting

This is what I use when I fish with braid/fluro (which is what I fish with almost 100% of the time) it is so simple that it is actually hard to screw it up.

The 10-2 PP which ST99 got me hooked on won't stick to 20lb Seagur (sp?) fluro with this one though, I have been using a uni-uni for the 10-2 PP

I use a surgeon knot all the time to tie mono line to leader. Problem with knot is it is not very smooth. Hangs up on tip guide. 15 to 20 lb leader its ok but heavier I use an albright special but it takes too long to tie.
Problem with braid is it is slippery and will cut mono like a knife. Most knots won't hold. If you are in a hurry and really are not stressing the line a surgeon knot is ok but if you have time and really want the knot to hold us a uni to uni knot. Palamar knot works pretty well on your hooks
