Bluefish any good?

Caught a bluefish today. Are they any good to eat?

I like to put blackend seasoning on them then put on slow smoke until they flake and make fish dip.

Bluefish are good to eat if fresh. Like Spanish mackerel…don't freeze.

Bleeding em as soon as they go into the ice chest goes a ways to making them better. They smoke pretty well. Lots of people let them soak in brine, milk or marinade overnight before cooking and then grill/fry.

Course most any fish is edible if you go to all that trouble

Dock, I love blue fish and so does anyone I serve them to. I chunk them up, cover them in seasoned corn meal and fry them up. Offer up some tarter sauce, cold beer and it don't get any better! (unless you bring home some Cobia!)

Bleed them quickly. Fillet and remove dark line from fillets. Grill with lemon butter sauce.

What Mud said(try not to get too close to the skin, while filleting, removing most of the red meat) but I fry them after. They have flavor of their own but it's good not strong, kind of like a Spanish.

I bleed them immediately after being caught and put them on ice. Fried Bluefish is great but I usually grill/bake them whole and they are just as good. My grilling/baking technique consists of placing the whole fish on foil and stuffing it with onions, tomatoes, green peppers and a sprig of thyme. I then season with salt, pepper and everglades seasoning. Then I cover it with Lawry's Lemon Pepper Marinade and place in the fridge for about an hour and then to the grill. I have brought this to a few cookout's and have had no complaints.

Alright; how do you bleed a fish correctly?

I always keep a 5gal bucket on the boat. I half fill it with water, then take a knife stick it in the blues gills and cut straight out the bottom. Then i put the blue head down in the bucket for 30 seconds. Put the blue down in the ice and dump the bucket overboard.

Heck no! They are extremely poisoness. Make you deathly ill even to handle them. Takes a trained hand to handle them. Just call me if your over at Keaton Beach and get one of these evil creatures, and I'll come take him off your hands safely.

I am shore bound so when a decent blue is caught it's opened up from the anal fin to the gills right in the surf. Then rinsed out and placed in the cooler with salt water and ice.
