For a guy that likes to fish the flats, some skinny water, and a little ways out <10mi on a calm day.

Don't go out any further than you can swim in a boat that size. You'll lose sight of land within 4-5 miles. Always keep breakdowns in mind and whether or not you want to be adrift in a boat that size should a storm with 6'+ seas whip up.

IMO, you can get more boat for roughly the same price, and be better off in the long run.

I'd feel safer in my 17' 6' Searay. Thanks guys, I'm gonna hold off for now, work on the SeaRay's watery outdrive, and stick with her for a while. (She is just fine inshore).

JPVol, I know a few Skeeter Bay owners who all like it. Mike's Marine in Panacea sells them. Prolly find some used ones here and there now and then.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

Check out Key West boats! Good, solid, reputable boat. We have a 1700 Sportsman and we love every bit of it! Can fish 3 people comfotably and you can go a good bit out but using common sense. Can draft in less than 2 ft of water.
