searching for redfish
Hey fellow kayakers. Cant find any concentrations of reds. I usually do something on them when Im really looking for them at Dickersons bay where I do most of my fishing. Havnt seen a decent fish out of the last two trips to that area. Still making a day on the offshore flats on some trout, but would much prefer to be homing in on some reds.
Fished Wakulla beach Wens. after the morning storms went away. went to the Goose bay marshes(had to check it out-never fished that side of WB before). Hooked on red about 22", lost em right at the boat. Fished alot of that shore line from just before highwater till about the first hr. of ebb tide. NOTHING ELSE.
went offshore past Patty island to the flats gaught 2 keeper trout ,one on a cork rig and the other w jig. Slim pickens!
Can anyone point me toward some REDS? Rick

Re: searching for redfish
If other yakkers weren't just feeding me a line, try the oyster bars in the East River by the lighthouse @ St. Marks. We wade & catch reds there but yakkers claim they catch more than we do there. Try it out...might pay off.

I've done really well at spring creek from the yak.
Guys over at fcka have been getting them at the lighthouse too. All the shoreline east.
Imma try to find one or two this Sunday morning at WB.
Good luck!

Still searching, Went to bottoms rd. yesterday, real high lowtide. I couldnt really bfind the edges on the inshore bars/flats that i usually fish. I need to mark em off so I can gauge a starting pt. Didnt do much,no reds -a ccouple smaal trt and ladyfish. It got pretty breeezzzzy and the storms were moving in so I racked it. If weather permits Im going probably to Wbeach. I fd a nice edge on the offshore side of a flat I want to check out. It was so windy the day I ran across it that my anchor wouldnt hold me.
Not too much chatter going on. Rick

I know this is going to sound like a dumb question, but where/what is Wbeach?

Make a left at on the road at the BP right before Ochlockonee Bay bridge. Follow it all the way. Can't miss it.
Re: searching for redfish
Wrong....
Left at the BP takes you to Mashes Sands.
Take Wakulla Beach road just west of the Wakulla river on 98.

My mistake... I thought Mashes Sands was the side with the Pier and Wakulla Beach was the part at the end of the road. As previously stated... I'm a newbie to the area.
