Hook and line is not a l;egal means for turkey harvest in Florida.
The market hunters in the old days would set limb lines with corn or peanuts on a hook.
the turkey would swallow the baited hook and be there when the Hunter got back the next day. This cruel practice is not used any more.
The wild turkey was hunted to extreme low numbers but due to the efforts of The NWTF and other conservation orgs. the wild turkey is back with huntable populations in the lower 48 and Hawaii, yes Hawaii. The Rio Grand sub-species was introduced there and have thrived.
If you ain't tried it,don't.
An old-timer once said"Deer hunting gets in your blood but turkey huntin will drive you slap crazy".

It's a small world, unless you had to paint it.
The old way of poaching pheasants in the daytime was to put out raisins soaked in spirits and pick the pheasants up after they had eaten them.
The landowners insisted the dew claws were removed from all "running dogs" in areas where there was deer.
The idea being that a dog could not run down a deer with no dew claws, apparently it makes them lose balance when they run at speed.
In the "old days" offenders were deported to Australia for their second poaching offence.
I,m full of useless information.
