Lake Talquin

Post by BIG »

Does anyone have any helpful hints on navigating Lake Talquin? I have gone out at least half a dozen times and it never fails that I will
hit a stump. I've even hit one in 5 foot of water!

Given the fact that I have never caught anything there I probably should give up. I have been leaving from Willams and Coe landings primarily fishing the Little River.

Any assistance would be appreciated. I am talking about good fishing spots too!

Big, Coe's is not the place to launch if you don't know your way around. I've been fishing Talquin for 30 years and I don't run that area.

Williams is not as bad. You can run out of williams if you know what areas are bad stumpy.

You referred to Little River. That area is a boaters' nightmare. After 30 years I idle in and idle out. There are folks that know a "path" in and out. I have run that "path" in the past, sucessfully, but quit running through there whe I hit one. Most folks who have been fishing that lake for years will tell you that eventually you'll hit one, even if you know where you're going. There are also those folks that have no idea what's below the surface, and run through there. If they don't hit anything it's blind, dumb luck.

As for fishinf, it's one of the best bass lakes around. It's also one of the toughest. You'll wear um out today, go back tomorrow, and not get a bite.

Don't give up on the lake, learn it. Try going with someone that is experienced on the lake, and knows where to run. I could probably be persuaded into going out there with you. Let me know if you're interested.
What was I supposed to do today?
