Chain Saw Fix

Post by RodBow »

I have a chain saw that worked GREAT until I replaced the fuel lines going to and from the tank (due to disintegration) and also the sprocket.
The cheap thing used to crank on the 1st pull, ran well and did the job.
Now all it does is rev way up upon cranking and then cuts out the 1st time I hit the gas handle.

Any suggestions? Its a Poulan Power Pro.

Filter on the end of the fuel pickup line in the tank? lines mixed up? primer bulb?

Based on racing and wrenching dirtbikes for years........Air leak. A 2-stroke will rev high with not throttle if there is an air leak on the cylinder side of the carb or within the carb itself. When you open the throttle there is now too much air to run. Check your work......it's probably something you touched. IMHO.

Disclaimer.......when our yard power tools go bad we have a hard time fixing them. They are cheaply made and often difficult/impossible to work on.

What kind of gas have you been running? This alcohol in gas is causing lots of problems with small engines. I add Star-tron to all my small engine gas. My chain saw did something like that and it was the carb.
