trailer tire and rim prices

Post by Rhettley »

I had a blow out on the trailer on the way to Daytona and I didn't have a spare  :hammer: . Fortunately the new insurance I just bought had roadside assistance. I still had to buy a new tire from the guy though for about $150. That was just for the tire and for him to take my rim to his shop and mount the tire on the rim at about dark on July 4th. The insurance paid for the rest.
While I was in Walmart in Daytona I found a 14" 5 hole rim with mounted trailer tire 205/75/R14 for $108. I went ahead and bought it so I'd have a spare.
Question is- What can the tire experts around here (Thomasville?) get me a mounted tire and rim for? I have the receipt for the tire from Wallymart so I can return it if you guys can do a better deal. With the wife's AC going out at $1300, my truck and car repair bill of $400 last month plus the roadside trailer tire, and the home fridge and freezer going out the day I was to leave for Daytona, we can use any penny we can save on this month. :-)

Not sure if it would be worth the drive but you can call Will @ Capital City Trailers here in Tally and get a good price. might be someone that is over here could pick it up and bring it to you? 858-566-6566

Try Singletary Tire (229-226-2842) in T'ville and ask for Jared. I think he is a member of this forum and may offer a member discount.

Thanks. I couldn't remember the name of the store in Tville. I believe his user name is LuckySOB right? I'll call them.

Tally is a stretch when you add gas to go get a tire.

OK just talked to Jared. Great guy! I actually bought an underground fence from him for the dogs a while back. Gonna check the date for me on the other old tire as soon as I can get beside it in Daytona and call him with the numbers from the tire to see how old it is. The tires look fine but after 1 blow out on I-75 I don't want to chance it if they are old. Could be I just hit something that cut the tire and caused the blow out though.
