I remember them when I was a kid. Always a special treat when Mom made them. She called them Popeye eggs though. Either way, good eats and fun to teach your kids to make.

We called them Egg in a Nest. Still make them every now and again when on vacation.

Years ago my RA boys made them on Buddy Burners. I forget what we called them but the bread helped keep the egg on the burner and the boys were happy.

Wife makes them occasionally - I add a little "Louisiana One-Drop" hot sauce on mine.

Eggs in a Basket are what we call them. Lots easier to make on an electric griddle as that flip can be a challenge since the top of the egg is not set all the way. When we make them at home we use medium size eggs as the x-large will spill out of the hole depending on size. The crazy thing is the grilled hole cutout is waaaay better than normal toast... Cracker Barrel does them pretty well and with a side of CB hash brown casserole
