Is the old SGI bridge open for fishing?

This area is for general discussions about fishing, rigging, baits, etc.

I don't know if it is open yet but there are contract negotiations going on to make both ends of the old bridge into privately operated fishing 'piers'

I think the guy who is trying to buy it is the same guy who operates the Pensacola fishing bridge

I was there for the chili cook off a couple of weeks ago, I would say no. They are in the process of tearing it down. They have taken the middle high section out, but the rest were in tact.(SP?) There were crews working on it. The University of florida is going to also conduct test before they finish dismantling by running barges into it for various reason.
