Talon
back agin with more on the talon, Minn Kota is getting me a another unit with a modification to the spike, they have ask me to do testing for them. It turns out that they have had a lot of problems with the roll pin coming out under wave action and or current. they are sending one that they have replaced the roll pin with a stainless screw and have asked me to test it. Let you know more later
Re: Talon
I really like my Talon, have had it just under one year. If they know they have a problem they might put out a recall or send the folks that have one a replacement screw liked Jim Smith talked about. Thanks Jim and keep us posted.
ps, is the screw something that the customer can replace or a dealer/repair shop fix?

Re: Talon
just an update on the the replacement talon, I have used it twice now and had no problems. It seems to deploy a little faster than the old one. I understand that the major change is that they changed the roll pin that held the spike in to a bolt by theading the collar on both sides and using a stainless screw instead of the roll pin. It seems on any wave action when the boat rolls around the spike will turn and if every thing lines up just right the pin would come out and the spike fell out. I must be an expert at this since I have lost four so far. I will pass on more info. later
