Post by redbelly7 »

Has anyone been around Black Rock to report on visibility n last few days? I would like to get one more mess of scallops, but I need a report.

Was east of there on Monday. Water is mixed. Places where it is extremely dark and then others where visibility isn't too bad with clarity the color of strong tea. In those spots you could see about 3.5 feet to the bottom. There were several boats around Black Rock that were scalloping.

thanks sliverking, i think we're going to try for next weekend to see if water clears up a little more. If anyone else knows about how thick they are there, pls let me know. I typically go to Keaton, but not much there this year

Scallops are mighty thick at black rock. As long as you can see to get them, you shouldnt have a problem getting 3-4 limits in a couple hours. We have smashed them all year! Good Luck!
P.S. Have figured out it is easiest to go on a falling tide :)
Just take me fishing ;-)
