What's YOUR perfect boat ?

Post by Badbagger »

Just curious, what would you consider the perfect boat for YOU and your family for fishing etc. ?

For us, we presently run our 2009 G3 1966 Center Console and it's a great boat. Pic below. We've recently added a T-Top and Garmin GPSMAP 720s.
So we'll sell the G3 and move on up. We've owned 3 G3's now and this has been the best yet. Only 1' longer and 6" wider than the 1860 but she's
got a great WIDE beam.

Our sites are set on our next boat which will give us what "they call" a hybrid hull which should be perfect for fishing the bays and the trips offshore
when the weather is right. We're saving our pennies up and making our short list and we really like the Pioneer Baysport 220 with a 250 hung from the transom.
While it's not perfect (there's no such boat lol), it really has caught our attention. Again, pics below.

So what's your perfect boat?

I fish a Frontier 18 open.8 foot beam- Mod. V which was a nice change from the Carolina skiff I had. 90 hp.2 stroke-- 2 people loaded down will hit 40 on gps. Has taken rougher water than I care to be in again and get get pretty skinny. Very dry boat.

That Pioneer is a sweet boat, you might not take it where that G3 goes.

Pioneer builds a sweet boat. Very solid construction. One of the members here owns one and I've tested a few.

But my favorite is still my Bayshore. Does a lot of things exceptionally well, including float in 9 inches. Not bad for 20-footer and I have the biggest casting deck around. :) There were only 52 built, but they pop up on the market every so often.

No such thing as a perfect boat, even for myself.

My 3rd is being built, and it was not an easy decision. I'm a 90% of the time fly fisherman so that makes things even more difficult. Finding a stealthy, clean rigged custom boat that can also do family duty is really tough. I've lost track of the boats I looked over and wet tested (bay, flats and skiff) I think I got it right this time though. I finally got down to two boats, and chose the one that is quieter and skinnier, but still has a really impressive ride on top of the nasty stuff in Apalachee Bay.

Got a East Cape Vantage coming soon (not my boat pictured). All I can say is that it's bigger than it looks in pictures...

In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

Hey Showboat that's slick. But, I would lose lots of stuff without any sides.

They do built a solid boat. Pioneer was started by Roy McSwain who left Scout to start the company; hence the similarity to Scout Boats. Those Bayshores are SWEET! I've seen photos and a HUGE casting deck and love the use of teak in the boat. I believe Choas uses the same hull mold to this day with a different deck.

Check out he Sea Fox 220XT, www.seafox.com. If you get it with a tunnel hull it drafts 11". I have the 200XT with tunnel and can go anywhere my buddy can go in his 18' Hewes. Also they have rolled gunnels and take rough water very well. I have had mine since 06/2011 and love it. Great boat.

Ain't that the TRUTH! Our G3 is paid for, our next boat will be paid in full when I hitch it up to the truck and we pull away.
