Great water clarity!

Post by tallykenjsbetterhalf »

We ventured out yesterday to check our stone crab traps. Water clarity was awesome. We could clearly see the bottom and all the structure and fish in 17'. Ken and Cat went out today. Same thing. They sent pictures a few minutes ago in 10'. You can see the black bass hanging out. Wish I was out there with them today, but laundry and grocery shopping kept me from all the fun!

Saw them on the way out, it was very pretty out and still, wish the fish would have bit better, I always say when it's so nice and still out the fish don't tend to bite very well

Pretty pics, nice bottom. How's it going with the crab traps. Any luck? Worth the effort? All traps still accounted for?

So far no crabs, but we have zip ties on the traps and no one has messed with them. Don England is doing ok but not catching a lot.. We left them where they were and we'll see. They are in a good rocky bottom area, so not sure....We're not decided on the worth the effort at this point.

we were out on Monday and had some great visibility to 10-15'. Unbelievable how calm it was, allowing us to see so deep - you really learn a lot about JT's fishing holes those days. ;-)

JT,

Now I know we are newbies at fishing, but yes, traps are very well baited with pigs feet and pin fish. :-D We have heard that it's a bit slow right now. Some folks we know that have been doing this for years, have gotten a few, but not that many. Plenty of spider crabs in one trap, but not the kind we want. I think they are in good rocky areas, but just not collecting anything yet. We'll let em sit there for a while. Maybe the luck will be with us on Saturday. Weather is loooking goooood! If anyone has traps out there, let us all know if you're trapping any stone crab. We have seen several recreational traps in the neighborhood of where we have ours. Hope the water is as clear as it was last weekend. Great time to scout spots to mark and try to find JT's honey holes. :D
