1/2 Day Work 1-14-13

Post by red_yakker »

Had some comp time I needed to use before the 15th, so I decided to take off from work half a day yesterday and do some fishing. We put in just after noon and ran strait up the creek to one of JT's favorite holes. We didn't catch a lot of fish, but what we caught were quality fish. Only one was under 20", and he was barely under. We started with cut bait, cause that's all they would hit in this hole over the weekend, but after breaking my leader on a rock, I saw a nice trout chasing my egg sinker back towards the boat. I decided to switch to a plug and hooked up on my first cast (24" trout). A few casts later, I got the one under 20". The last few came much slower throughout the afternoon. Some on cut-bait, some on plugs. The wind made it too difficult for my little boat to go out on the flats, but we had plenty of fun in the creek. I am loving this warm winter!

The buddy I was with swore me to secrecy on that topic. Let's just say it was a negative low-tide when I put in, and it was somewhere in between but not including the Aucilla River and the Steinhatchee.

Nice looking fish. Is that a river hawk? I used to own a b-52, but since downgraded to the 13' duck boat with a little surface drive. Sometimes I wish I still had the b-52 and 10 horse johnson to fish some of the rivers with.
