john boat repairs
i have a rivited john boat that is leaking pretty bad. i am looking for some advice on the best way to repair it. what are some products and techniques you guys have used? i have used jb weld in the past and it just did not last long. i came across a product online called wetlander. has anyone used this stuff? any tips, info, help, or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Never used it, but a buddy did. You just need to replace the rivets.

onefishtwofish is right. I had a 14 foot John Boat the wind picked up and wrapped around a pine tree. I got larger sized aluminum rivets, drilled out the old ones and replaced with the new ones. Some might not need replacing. Place the boat on saw horses, fill with several inches of water and find to ones leaking. Put a hammer on the bottom part of the rivet and tap the top of the same rivet with another hammer.

I have used the Cabelas green sticks with great luck on aluminum boats...

also a lot of guys I know use SteelFlex- a thick epoxy paint like they use on the bottom of airboats.
