Fishing Line

Post by guthooked »

I'm getting things ready for the season and was curious what line brand, weight everyone uses for trout with different rigs? For instance, cork rigs, hardbaits, swimmers, etc...? If anyone uses braid, what brand do you use? I have always used Powerpro for braid and Ande backcountry 15lb for mono. The thing I don't like about the Ande Backcountry is the stretch, which seems to be a little excessive.

Thanks

I still like PP on the spinners. I can fling that thang a country mile but, I use Ande back-country blue like you on my level-winds. Throwing spinner baits sometimes you need some stretch in the line.

PowerPro for me, 30 pound test and green. My wife likes yellow. We just have the spinning reels.

All plug casters -- spiderwire -- been on the reels since they were new --- 10 to 14 years ago. It has little stretch and is as strong as the day i put it on the reels!

I like PowerPro...have it on most of my reels. I've tried Spiderwire and Tuf-Line and liked them as well. Anything I spool with mono gets pink Ande Premium.

Power Pro 20# and one 30#. Using 20#, 30# and 60# fluorocarbon leaders depending on the location, stainless steel piano wire for the toothy Spanish Macs. For the hook set, nothing beats braided line.

i use Fin's braid xs smooth and wind tamer 20lb with seagar flo as my leader, and the other half of my reels i use the Ohero braid 20lb. also with a fluoro leader. the Ohero and Fins is by far the best braid i've ever used. the fins is pretty similar to power pro SLICK but is smoother to me. the Ohero compares to nothing on the market, its just awesome IMO. if you're not wanting the stretch i would use Fluoro as the main line. Fin's make a shock absorbing braid line as well.

Power Pro 20# on my rigs with braid. Ande 8# and 10# on my mono rigs. I just like mono better for certain applications. All are tipped with 20# flouro except my live bait rig which varies with where I am fishing.
