Mad Max vs. PETA

Post by big bend gyrene »

Seeing as how JT's been hitting me up with cobia shares of late, making the fever build to an unbearable level, thought it my turn to share something for him... a favorite "John Boy & Billy" skit featuring one of their characters, Mad Max, taking on PETA regarding the subject of fishing. Heck, not sure but think Mad Max might even be old JT himself!

Have to stick with it a while but the Virgil Ward (RIP) portion is hilarious.

Showing my age here, but merely typing the two words "Virgil Ward" instantly bring back fond childhood memories of watching his show. Young whippersnappers today with 1,000 channels and DVRs at their disposal won't appreciate how much anticipation went along with waiting for shows to air during the 3 channel days, but know some of you WILL remember those days and how much a show's theme song would instantly grab your attention. "From the lakes of Northern Canada to the gulf of Mexico, wherever fish are biting, that's where we're going to go..."

 Mad Max for president!

Virgil Ward's show was something I waited for all week. That man would sling out a Bettle Spin in a heartbeat! Bill Dance came on right before or after Virgil. I remember when I was about 12 saving my money up for month's to by a Diawa Procaster to replace the Zebco One. It took me many afternoons out in the pecan grove backlashing that thing to finally learn to throw a baitcaster but I felt like I was finally ready for the biggest fish in the lake.
