Tuesday - Ap 2nd - Keaton Beach

Post by SS-342 »

Five boats from our area went fishing at Keaton Beach Tuesday, April 2, 2013. All five boats limited out!

One boat used a gold, Redfin plug. Other boats a combination of soft lures. Seems the jerk shad, 5" chartreuse Gulp was HOT on a cork or just a jig. Water temp around mid sixties, varable winds during the day. We found our fish in 3.5 to 5.5 feet water. Water was stained. The bite sort of slacked during the low but still bit. I had just assured a friend the bite would come back when the water began to move and on the next cast caught an 18 inch trout.

The wife had the best time EVER! We caught 19 keepers plus shorts. All the keepers were good fish above 16" to almost 21". Nice fat fish!

We only caught trout. Other boats caught a Cobia, pin fish, pink mouth grunts and a few black sea bass.

Go fishing if you can, the bite is ON!

Do you have any details on the cobia? I'm going out of Horseshoe Saturday to get some trout but we also want to pick up some cobia.

Only thing I was told was it was short and caught on a Gulp shrimp.
