Crimping Tools...

Post by Badbagger »

I need to replace and OLD set of crimpers that worked so so. I always use double sleeve crimps. Any suggestions on something half way decent for crimpers ?

Thanks!

If your talking about one for wiring and connectors. I use channelock ones, from Lowes. They have light blue handles, both style crimping jaws and cutters at the end.

I use Ancor racheting double crimpers (Ancor 701030) a little more expensive than some but they get it done right the first time. They are usually around $65.

The red handle Boone is the best I have found. Works on double and aluminum.

P-line has a set for around $22. They are cup to cup style which seems to be the prefered method for double barrel sleeves. They also have a set of Stainless crimpers for $36 that look much better in construction as well as material.

Walmart on Hwy 90 east has 5-6 pairs of Mustad crimping tools on "clearance". I think they were $10 or maybe a little more. They looked kind of Large. Large enough where they won't get lost, and probably won't fit in a normal tackle box. Could likely double as lineman's pliers. :-D They are probably still there.
