Lighthouse Today 5/21

Post by jslorenz3 »

My dad is gonna be in town this weekend to fish, so I wanted to get out and try and scout some reds this afternoon. Left Tallahassee around 3 and was launching a little after 4. The wind was a little stiffer on the coast than it was at home.
I ended up with a nice afternoon. Didn't manage to get a red in the boat, but I did see some and even saw some tails. I've never seen that up here before. I fished a chartreuse skitter walk and a blue yo zuri shrimp. Caught trout, a flounder, a BSB, a few jacks and the usual lady fish and catfish. All fish were released today, as I forgot a cooler while I was rushing from campus to my apartment to the refuge.
By the time the sun was about to go down the wind was howling at least 20 mph.

Sounds like you made solid contact with the fish. Sometimes being "prepared to fish" can jinx a fishing trip. You should always forget something each trip (landing net, camera, rain suit, radio, push pole, cell phone, etc.). The more prepared you are directly affects your odds of making it a good day on the water. :-D

I love that advice! I'm heading down there after work today. Freezer is empty, so I really need to find big schools of fat reds and trout. I'll be sure to forget my wading boots, cast net, bait bucket, reels, rods, lures, stringer, and fishing license.

And for extra Mojo, I think my gas tank should run dry just as I start back to Tallahassee from the lighthouse. At sunset. With a dead cell phone in the glove box.

(Actually, I have committed every one of the above unforced errors...just not all at once).

Watch out for the thunder boomes that may pop up this afternoon and good luck.
