Headed to Cbelle Friday morning for the FS NW bash and stopped at Lanark to fish with a friend. He and his boy had 3 trout in the cooler. I got on the boat at 10:30 and we didn't catch another keeper trout, fished until 2:30.
We went gigging Fri night but had to come in by 11:30 due to the wind and couldn't see. We only had 2. buddy and his kids went out Sat night and ended up with 15 or 16.
Sat morning me and 2 different friends entered the FS inshore tournament. We left the doc at 6am and it was blowing!! We made the crossing to DI and picked up a couple nice trout in the harbor and 1 short red. Went to the W end and fished some docks for reds and didn't get any. Came back to the E end and made a few drifts and nothing. We ran to lanark, E of the ramp and made a few drifts picking up 1 here and there. Ended our day out from the old motel W of the ramp with nothing. I think there were 6-7 boats entered and we won with 5 trout..... Another boat had 3 and one boat had 1 and the rest had 0. We split the $100 3 ways and were all happy. Sorry no pics this trop. Biggest trout was 19 3/4". We threw the entire tacklebox at them including live pinfish.
3 boats entered the offshore and only 1 boat brought back a keeper fish......a 36" cobia caught off the bottom.

I didn't have much luck either. Saturday I took the dogs on their first trip on the boat. I fished behind the Lanark reef east of the Lanark Market ramp. I got down to the east end and the waves coming in were 2 to 3 feet so I stayed tucked in and explored. I had a few bites but never hooked a fish. Sunday me and Kevin Wilkinson put in at the Lanark ramp and ran out to the backside of Dog Island. We fished all around the area shallow to deep. I put a lady fish in the boat and he used some beef jerky to catch a few pins and pigfish. We hit the west end and fished around the old wreck out to the end of the island for sharks and caught about 10 of those. I managed to get a ray too. Not sure what a ladyfish, ray, shark slam is called... We stopped back at the ferry landing cove one last time and Kevin managed to put a keeper trout and a big Spanish in the boat for the only two keepers.
The fishing was off. I've never had so much trouble finding trout. The company and scenery were good both days and it was nice just being on the water.

It did seem to be unusually slow this weekend out of Lanark. I caught a number of reds on Sunday sight-fishing but it was hard to find them and even harder to get them to bite. It was even slower on Monday dispelling the old wives tale that the fish all bite as soon as the weekend is over.
It was even slow out on DI Reef on Monday......the blues and ladyfish were almost non-existent.....and they are there ALL the time. I sent my dad home without an eating fish in his little cooler....first time in many a moon.
