5 davids and Goliath

Post by Bream Reaper »

Hey fella's! I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I fished 42 miles west the Hatch last Saturday. Some of my buddies and I wanted to pull on some big AJs and were armed with heavy tackle. After catching some 40#ers we had a Jew follow a small one up. We tied 5 80# outfits to a stainless ring and braided 3 strands of 125# leader that we tied to a # 15 hook with a drop shot of 16 oz. We then dropped him a nice hunk of bait and the 20 min battle was on. Only 2 rods were left when the fight was over. Everyone else had been cut off. I used the calculator on the home page and got 544#s. I have some pics I can send if one of you will post it.

AWESOME stuff, Bream Reaper.

May be common for some others that post, but first I've heard of rigging multiple rods to a single hook. Love to hear more about how the fight actually progressed. Did it make it that much easier to get him up? Did the cut offs happen early due to structure down low or were the cutoffs more due to the boat (prop, railings, etc)? Really enjoy hearing the fight details on this one! :smt045
