Anybody remember this era at Econfina?

I remember Econfina when you left 98 you stopped everywhere you could to pick up sticks and bricks to put under your wheels because the one lane two rut dirt road was going to make certain you got stuck several times before you got to the ramp. Once you made it to the ramp it was a large flat rock you backed your trailer onto to launch. Do you remember that?

You got me there! I started going down in fall of '70.
We used to joke about the first paved road with all the potholes/patches as having more per mile than anywhere in the world. I do vividly remember no ramp and backing into river over and around rocks. It does seem everyone helped everyone else launch and load in those days and everybody got wet. I remember the Econfina Hilton by the cattlegap. I remember bathing in river at night because of sulfur water.
Great memories!

I started going about 75' (I was 5
)....Remeber when you could launch where the sea wall is now or you could launch near where the launch currently is. I remember the big house and the pictures that used to be inside.
Remember the 80's too
..Had to wait for them to unlock the gate to let us in cause of certain activities...

Airboats at night, guns firing...some of those "activities" were frightening!Chalk wrote: Remember the 80's too..Had to wait for them to unlock the gate to let us in cause of certain activities...
Only time I've ever had my boat and truck searched by DEA agents!
