Local mechanic recommendations

Post by Opus Dixie »

Hi all,

I have a 130HP Johnson (2000) that's been giving me trouble since I bought it a few months ago. It usually takes a while to start, the bendix sticks, the motor's cut off suddenly a few times (while going about 35mph) and it overheated twice on Saturday out by the Lighthouse. I'm also noticing corrosion that's been spray-painted over on the motor, so at this point, I'm thinking about having it rebuilt, or at least checked out. Is there a local shop y'all can recommend? I've heard good things about Mike's Marine Supply in Panacea, but that's about it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You can't go wrong with Porter marine. He's located in Woodville on Elgin Rd. I think i speak for a lot of us when i say this. Give Waviel Porter a call @ 850-421-1490.

I just called over there, looks like I'm dropping it off this week. Thanks for the recommendation! I hope he can get me back on the water soon, this motor's been driving me crazy!!
