I’m needing a little advice.
There is a boat listed on Craigslist that I’m interested in, I’m just not too sure of the asking price. There’s no room for making a offer, the guy will not take a dime less than the asking price. I went and checked the boat out, went for a test drive it handled ok. He wanted me to make a decision today, I felt a little pressured. I told him I would let him know tomorrow. He kept telling me had put 8,000 in the boat, not being a smart a$$,I asked him where ? he said he put non-skid on the floor and rewired the boat. (really??) Any opinions would be welcomed.

Re: Any Advice ?
Looks like a good deal to me !!! It won't last long !
Re: Any Advice ?
Looks like a nice rig. Not so sure about the price though. Just looking at the motor, the NADA for a 1997 Mercury big foot is $880.00 low retail, and $990.00 high retail. They take off 10% to 15% just because it's used primarly in salt water. Not saying that it's worth just that, but a bank will go by that list when financing. Not sure what the loan value is. Still, it's a nice looking boat. That $8,000 he spoke of sounds a little questionable. I've rebuilt a lot of boats in my life. $8,000 just for non-slip deck and re-wire, that pitch might be enough to turn me off on the sale.

Thanks, for your imput CS Marine, I'm gonna pass on this one, I thought the same thing about the retail of the motor.
I had already looked that up also. I felt the same way, about the 8,000 and the fact that he told me if I didn't buy his boat, then I must not be looking for a fishing boat. I plan to look at another one tomorrow.

I think you are making a wise move. When you resale something, you can't expect people to pay for your custom adds because they might be worthless to the buyer. For example a Bimini top or a stereo system. Banks don't base loan values based on added customization. Is is a 1999 boat....period.
