Steinhatchee

Post by jjewell99 »

Anyone been to steinhatchee lately? I have heard mixed reports of dirty water and the water clearing up. Can anyone verify? I am headed down in a couple weeks for 5 days of fishing and hope its in good shape. Last year the water was dirty the same time, we still managed to catch several trout but never cold get up with any reds. Thanks in advance for any info.

I don't fish that area but I would advise you go south. Water clearing from Horseshoe going north, still dark but doable.

Did you fish the Clay Creek channel on the flats?

Thanks! Floating grass must not be a problem.

Just bumping this up, in hopes someone visited steinhatchee this past weekend. Maybe give a little info on the fishing/water clarity.

Thanks

Buddy of mine was down there last weekend - he said the water was clearing up closer to Keaton Beach. He said south of the river was still stained pretty good.

They caught a lot of trout and sand trout in one day of fishing.

We were down at Keaton this afternoon and going out about 1:30. Other boats were coming in with a full limit of trout. Caught around Big Grassy. ,We didn't go that far and caught some good fish, Speckled and Sand Trout. Seemed to like Pumpkin Spice the most.
